Why we created appfeed

We’re rolling out our new AI-curated news service on companies of interest — it’s easy and straightforward to set up, yet extremely powerful under the hood. Here's why we built appfeed in the first place...
Why we created appfeed

In today’s competitive business environment, staying ahead means understanding your target companies inside and out. Yet, when it comes to tracking strategic changes, it’s far too easy to get bogged down in hours of manual research, scanning dozens of websites, and juggling multiple tools. We experienced this frustration firsthand—and that’s why we built appfeed.

The Problem

Being deeply involved in sales, marketing, and strategy, we were constantly searching for ways to stay informed about the companies that mattered most to us: competitors, partners, vendors, leads, and customers. Whether it was a new product launch, leadership change, new hires, acquisitions, patent filings, or other major updates, the process was always the same: hours spent on Google, LinkedIn, company blogs, and news sites, pulling fragmented pieces of information together.

Worse yet, this wasn’t just a one-time task—it was ongoing. Every week brought new developments, and we’d find ourselves repeating the same time-consuming process over and over. And then, when we finally got some strategic updates, we still had to write summarized reports and typically share them in our Teams and Slack channels so the rest of the company would be informed as well.

It was frustrating, inefficient, and it felt like there had to be a better way. Yet, we couldn’t find a tool that met our needs. Most services either drowned us in irrelevant data or lacked the granularity we needed to act on insights. And then, there was always the cost associated with such tools to consider.

The Vision

We wanted a tool that would simplify this entire workflow—a single source of truth for monitoring strategic changes across target companies. It needed to be:

  • Effortless: No more hours of searching. We wanted updates to come to us, curated and relevant.
  • Accurate: Only the changes that mattered—nothing more, nothing less.
  • Actionable: Insights that didn’t just inform but empowered us to make timely, strategic decisions.

Enter appfeed

Appfeed was born out of this need. It’s a platform designed to give professionals like us the edge we’ve been looking for. Instead of spending hours each week sifting through information, AppFeed delivers timely updates from target companies in one consolidated feed.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Select Companies: Tell appfeed who you want to monitor and what your relationship is to these companies.
  2. Select Destinations: Tell appfeed where you want to receive your newsfeed.
  3. Smart Monitoring: appfeed keeps track of company announcements, website changes, press releases, and so much more—all in near-real time.
  4. Customizable Feeds: You decide which categories matter to you. We currently offer tracking of key messaging, product features, jobs, blog and news updates, and price changes.

The Impact

Since launching appfeed as an MVP, the feedback has been incredible. Users tell us they’ve saved hours every week, reduced missed opportunities, and gained a deeper understanding of their target companies. It’s not just about efficiency; it’s about empowerment—giving professionals the tools they need to stay ahead of the curve.

What’s Next

Building appfeed has been an amazing journey, but it’s just the beginning. We’re continually adding services and sources to monitor, improving the platform based on user feedback.
